The Technique
Instead of asking for one answer, ask the model to generate three to five independent answers to the same question, then synthesize the best elements.

This works because different “reasoning paths” catch different aspects of the problem. One attempt might nail the technical details but miss the human angle. Another might have brilliant structure but weak examples. The synthesis captures the best of all worlds.

4. Tree-of-Thought: Exploring Multiple Reasoning Branches
Tree-of-thought (ToT) is chain-of-thought on steroids. Instead of following one linear reasoning path, you ask the model to explore multiple branches simultaneously and evaluate which path is most promising.

Every element matters. Remove the context, and the AI writes generic content. Remove the role, and it lacks expertise depth. Remove the example, and the tone is unpredictable.

6. Persona Stacking: Multiple Experts in One Prompt
This is the technique that gets the most “wow” reactions in our workshops. Instead of assigning one persona, you ask the model to simulate a panel of experts who each contribute their perspective.
How to Implement Persona Stacking
For the following task, I want you to respond as a panel of
three experts:
Expert 1 — The Strategist: Focuses on big-picture implications,
market positioning, and long-term impact
Expert 2 — The Practitioner: Focuses on implementation details,
practical challenges, and step-by-step execution
Expert 3 — The Critic: Identifies weaknesses, potential failures,
and what everyone else is missing

First, have each expert share their perspective independently.
Then, synthesize their views into a unified recommendation
that addresses all three angles.
Persona stacking works because it forces the model to consider multiple viewpoints simultaneously. The strategist catches opportunities the practitioner misses. The critic catches risks everyone else ignores.

Most people know about few-shot prompting — giving examples before asking for output. But graduated few-shot is a level above. Instead of showing examples of equal complexity, you show a progression from simple to complex.

Graduated Few-Shot (Better)
I'll show you three examples of increasing quality.
Your output should match or exceed Example 3.

Example 3 (Best): "The only project management platform built

Target quality: Example 3 or above.
By showing the quality gradient, you’re teaching the model what “better” looks like in context. This is dramatically more effective than showing three examples of the same quality level.
Pro tip: Include a brief note after each example explaining why it’s better than the previous one. This helps the model understand your quality criteria explicitly.
Putting It All Together
These seven techniques aren’t mutually exclusive. The real power comes from combining them. A prompt that uses CRTSE structure, with meta-prompting for refinement, chain-of-thought for reasoning, and graduated few-shot for quality calibration will produce output that makes people ask, “How did you get AI to do that?”
The answer isn’t a secret model or a special subscription. It’s technique.
