A template advertising "200+ components" and one advertising "60 components" can take the same time to customize if the 60-component template has cleaner variant patterns. What actually matters: does each component expose props for the states you will need — loading, disabled, error — or will you be editing the source file itself for every variant? Is the code accessible by default, with keyboard navigation, ARIA labels, and focus states, or does the demo just look right visually? Check one non-trivial component, like a data table or a multi-step form, in the live demo before buying the whole kit. If that one component is well-built, the rest usually is too.
ShadcnUI is not a component library you install — it is a CLI that copies component source code directly into your project, so you own and edit every line from day one. That is the right choice if you need deep customization and do not mind more setup. DaisyUI is a true plugin: semantic class names like btn, card, and modal applied on top of Tailwind, with zero JavaScript and the fastest path to a working UI. Plain Tailwind utility classes with no component layer at all is the right call only if your design is genuinely custom — reaching for a component library and fighting its defaults costs more time than writing utilities directly.
Tailwind CSS v4 moved configuration from tailwind.config.js to CSS-first @theme blocks — a template still using the old JS config format will work, but you lose v4's faster build times and the new @theme token system until you migrate it yourself. Before buying, check the template's own repository or changelog for a v4 migration note. A template last updated before mid-2025 is very likely still on the v3 config format.
