About Pomodoro Timer
The Pomodoro Technique is one of the most effective time management methods for developers, students, and knowledge workers. This free online timer implements the full technique — 25-minute focus sprints with structured breaks — with audio alerts and session tracking to keep you accountable.
How It Works
The timer cycles through Focus (25min) → Short Break (5min) → Focus → Short Break → Focus → Short Break → Focus → Long Break (15min), then repeats. Each completed focus session counts as one pomodoro. The circular progress ring provides a visual countdown, and audio + browser notifications ensure you never miss a transition.
Who Is This For
A software developer working on a complex feature uses pomodoros to maintain deep focus without burning out — completing 8 pomodoros (4 hours of focused work) in a day.
A student preparing for exams uses the timer to structure study sessions — 25 minutes of active recall followed by 5 minutes of rest prevents cognitive overload.
A writer battling procrastination commits to just one pomodoro — the low commitment makes starting easy, and momentum often carries through multiple sessions.
A remote worker uses the break reminders to stand up, stretch, and rest their eyes — preventing the common trap of sitting for hours without moving.
Scope note: The timer requires the browser tab to remain open (it uses setInterval). If you close the tab, the timer stops. Browser notifications require permission and may not work in all browsers. Audio alerts use the Web Audio API which is not available in very old browsers.
