About Tip Calculator

Tipping customs vary by country, service type, and establishment — what's generous in one context is insulting in another. Splitting a tipped bill among multiple diners adds further arithmetic. Having the tip amount, grand total, and per-person share all computed instantly lets everyone at the table verify the math quickly, especially when the bill needs to be settled between people using different payment methods.

How It Works

The tip amount is calculated as: Tip = Bill Amount × (Tip Percentage ÷ 100). The total is then: Total = Bill Amount + Tip. When the number of people is greater than 1, the per-person share is: Per Person = Total ÷ Number of People, rounded to two decimal places.

Preset percentage buttons (10%, 15%, 18%, 20%, 25%, 30%) fill the tip percentage field instantly for the most common scenarios. A custom percentage field accepts any decimal value for precise control — useful for rounding up to a specific total or matching a restaurant's suggested gratuity.
