The link is constructed by combining the wa.me base URL with the phone number in E.164 format (country code + number, no spaces or special characters) and an optional URL-encoded text parameter. For example, a message of "Hello, I saw your ad" becomes "Hello%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20ad" in the URL.
The QR code is generated client-side using a JavaScript QR library that encodes the full wa.me URL. Scanning the QR code on any device with WhatsApp installed opens the same chat directly — useful for printed materials, storefronts, and business cards.

WhatsApp requires the full international format without the leading + or 00. For India, a number like 9876543210 must be entered as 919876543210 (91 = country code). Missing or incorrect country codes cause the link to open WhatsApp with an error or connect to the wrong number entirely.
