About YouTube Tags Extractor

Every YouTube video can carry up to 500 characters of tags that the uploader chooses. They’re not shown in the normal interface, but they sit in the page’s public data. This extractor fetches that page through our server and lists the exact tags a video uses — handy for researching how top videos in your niche describe themselves.

How It Works

You paste a video link; the tool parses the 11-character video ID and requests it from our /api/youtube/inspect endpoint. That endpoint fetches the public watch page server-side (avoiding browser cross-origin limits and needing no API key), extracts the ytInitialPlayerResponse.videoDetails.keywords array, and returns it. Results are cached for 30 minutes to stay light on YouTube.

The tool then shows the video’s title and thumbnail for confirmation, the tag count and total character length, each tag as a chip, and a copy-all button. If the video has no tags, it says so instead of showing an empty box.

Who Is This For

A creator checking which tags the top three videos for their topic actually use before publishing.

A strategist auditing a competitor channel’s tagging patterns across several uploads.

An editor confirming their own uploaded video kept the tags they intended.

A marketer gathering keyword ideas that also feed titles and descriptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Paste the video URL and press Extract. The tool reads the video’s public page server-side and lists the tags (keywords) the uploader set — no browser extension or login needed.
Many creators leave the tags field empty. YouTube tags are only a minor ranking signal, so an empty list is common and not an error.
It only reads publicly visible page data — the same tags anyone can see in a video’s page source. Use them for research and inspiration, not to copy a channel wholesale.
No. This tool uses our own server to read the public watch page, so there’s nothing to configure and no signup.
