Add who you are buying for and a rough amount for each.

Enter it to see a 50/30/20 split between savings, festive spending and gifts. A bonus is taxed as salary, so check your slab in the income tax calculator.
Festival dates follow the 2026 panchang: Dhanteras 6 Nov, Choti Diwali 7 Nov, Lakshmi Puja 8 Nov, Govardhan Puja 9 Nov, Bhai Dooj 10 Nov. Muhurat times vary by city. Amounts are a planning aid, not financial advice. Planning the month after Diwali too? Carry the numbers into the monthly budget planner or send family shares with a UPI payment link.

Browse Finance TemplatesDiwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, and festive spending tends to leak across a week of Dhanteras gold, mithai boxes, lights, new clothes and gifts. This planner pairs a live countdown with a rupee-by-rupee budget. Set one total, split it across seven categories, list who gets which gift, and let savings absorb whatever is left. If the plan runs over, one click scales every category back to fit.
The countdown builds its target from calendar parts (8 November 2026 at 00:00 in your device timezone) and ticks every second after the page loads. The same schedule marks each of the five festival days as past, today or upcoming, so the strip stays correct during the festival week.
The budget engine stores a percentage for each spending category. Each amount is that percentage of your total, and typing an amount converts it back to a percentage, which is why the slider and the amount stay in sync when you change the total. Savings is not a slider: it is the total minus everything allocated, floored at zero. If the categories add up to more than 100%, the planner shows how many rupees you are over and offers to scale every category proportionally so the plan fits exactly.
A gift list overrides the Gifts slider once any row has an amount, so the category always equals what you actually plan to spend on people. The donut chart is drawn from the same allocation, and the CSV and text exports use identical numbers. The bonus tip splits any amount 50/30/20 between savings or EMI prepayment, festive spending and gifts.
A salaried couple splitting a ₹25,000 Diwali budget between mithai, lights and new clothes, then checking that gifts for 14 relatives still fit.
A first-jobber deciding how much of a ₹40,000 Diwali bonus to spend and how much to send towards an education loan EMI.
A small business owner planning Diwali gifts and staff bonuses for a team of eight inside one fixed festive budget.
A family travelling home for Diwali who want to see how train or flight costs squeeze everything else before they book.
Scope note: Festival dates follow the 2026 panchang; Lakshmi Puja muhurat varies by city, so check a local panchang for exact puja times. The category split, presets and 50/30/20 bonus tip are planning aids, not financial advice. Gift names are kept only in the open browser tab and are lost on refresh unless you export the CSV.

Check the countdown and the five-day strip for the Dhanteras, Choti Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj dates.
Type your total Diwali budget in rupees or tap a preset: Minimal ₹5,000, Classic ₹25,000 or Big ₹1,00,000.
Drag each category slider or type an amount. Savings absorbs whatever is left, and a warning appears if you go over 100%.
Add gift rows with a name and an amount. Once any gift has an amount, the list total sets your Gifts category.
Optionally enter your Diwali bonus for a 50/30/20 split tip, then copy the plan, download the CSV or share the card.
About the Diwali 2026 Countdown and Budget Planner
Diwali 2026 is on Sunday 8 November, with Lakshmi Puja in the evening. The five-day festival starts with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November, then Choti Diwali on Saturday 7 November, Diwali on the 8th, Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November. Puja muhurat times differ by city, so confirm yours with a local panchang.
The countdown at the top of this page shows the exact days, hours, minutes and seconds to local midnight on 8 November 2026 in your own timezone. From midnight on 8 October 2026 it is exactly 31 days. On the day itself the page switches to a Happy Diwali state and marks which festival day is today.
Fix one total first, then split it. The default split in this planner is gifts 25%, clothes 18%, sweets and food 15%, decor and lights 12%, travel 10%, puja essentials 5% and staff bonus and charity 5%, which leaves 10% in savings. Change any slider to match your family; the planner rebalances savings and warns you the moment the categories add up to more than the total.
The planner’s tip uses a 50/30/20 rule of thumb: half to savings or prepaying an EMI, 30% to festive spending and 20% to gifts. On a ₹40,000 bonus that is ₹20,000, ₹12,000 and ₹8,000. It is a starting point, not advice. A Diwali bonus is taxed as salary income, so the amount that reaches your account is lower than the gross figure.
No. Everything runs in your browser. Names and amounts stay in the open tab and are never uploaded or stored, so refreshing the page clears them. Download the CSV or copy the plan as text to keep a record. The share link carries only your total and category percentages, never gift names.
